Competitors
Catches We really had our fingers crossed for this one. Sadly the weather gods got the better of the UK competitors, the Tournament having to be postponed twice due to the unseasonal storms occuring throughout Europe. Things didn't fair much better for the final weekend, but some competitors did managed to find shelter in harbours and inland waters. The UK competitors were left with a feeling of what could have been, if only we could have ventured out to some of the planned offshore marks. In Australia, the Kayak Fishing Down Under (KFDU) competitors were also suffering with unseasonal weather, but some where able to get out on the water and produce the first entries of the Tournament. Although Ben did disqualify a few of the entries, including his own, this was due to their hunger getting the better of them, the contest was after all strictly catch and release! Thankfully we were able to save some face with a last minute effort from Wales, Scotland, Dorset and Suffolk producing some good fish. The overall winners of the Tournament were KFDU with Dave's 83cm Flattie, but it was oh so close with Stuart's 82cm Pike for the UK. At least we put up a better fight than in the Cricket. Thank
you to all that managed to get out and fish in the difficult conditions,
next comp will be in the middle of the Tope run so everyone better start
planning! Dave
