Kayak Fishing Meets and
Tournaments 2019

The list grows every year and 2019 is bigger than ever, and more of us are now competing abroad as well.

Making the decision on which to attend is getting harder and harder.... more

About Us

During a family picnic on a beach in West Wales we noticed that the locals were fishing discreetly from kayaks (sit in side style), paddling off shore and out of sight of tourists, then returning with bags of fish!

On my return home and after searching the web for information on fishing from kayaks I discovered the world of kayak fishing, there were people out there fishing from sit-on-top kayaks, sadly it appeared only in the USA. There was no information to be had for the UK kayak fisherman and as many of the products were not available in the UK the decision was made to launch www.anglersafloat.co.uk a dedicated kayak fishing website for the UK and European markets. AnglersAfloat was established in 2003.

With the help of sponsors Ocean Kayak, Humminbird and Scotty (Canada) we were able to produce our first project kayak, a series of step-by-step how-to-guides showing how to kit out an Ocean Kayak Caper sit-on-top kayak. The series has continued to grow with new models with the help from our Sponsors.

Our first 12 months saw 2000 hits to the site, it was early days, but there was a growing interest.

Over the years a number of kayak fishing websites have joined AnglersAfloat, many with forums, there was pressure from our site visitors for us to have our own forum, we launched the forum in October 2006

The AnglersAfloat forum has become a huge success with over 4000 members and averaging 380 visit’s a day. The main website averaging close to a 1000 unique visits a day.

Since 2008 our members have been busy raising money for various charities, our main charity being the RNLI for obvious reasons and Help for Heroes. We have also been heavily involved with Disability Wales, organising a Disability Fun Day at Llangorse Lake in Wales.

AnglersAfloat is privately funded and has no commerical interests.
